SQUASH & RACQUETBALL VICTORIA – 2024 CLUB OF THE YEAR

On Friday the 1st November 2024 at the Squash & Racquetball Victoria Annual Gala Dinner & Awards ceremony at the Kooyong Tennis Club – Mulgrave Country Club was presented with the prestigious 2024 Club of the Year award by Sarah Fitzgerald, President of S & RV and former squash world champion.

The assessment criteria included the following; a demonstrated achievement in making their club welcoming, safe and inclusive; a demonstrated increase in membership over the period of assessment; run an active Junior Program (recruitment & development); host S&RV sanctioned/acknowledged events; offer and support S&RV’s official programs; support S&RV coaching and officiating education offerings; members participate in competitions – inhouse and interclub.

The award was accepted by Mulgrave Country Club Director, Belinda Murphy and Vice Chair of the Squash & Racquetball Committee, Marguerite Lee.

Belinda, in accepting the award on behalf of the club, acknowledged the extensive volunteer hours that all the Squash & Racquetball Committee members regularly put in, in particular the past Chairs, Mark White & Anthony O’Shannessy, and current Chair Nick Tucker and Vice Chair Marguerite Lee.

This award clearly acknowledges our Board and Club’s commitment to the future of squash and racquetball. Our club has the highest membership of any club in Victoria and is only prohibited in growth by the number of courts we currently have.   The award clearly supports our vision and mission statements in being a leading community-based sporting club.
