December 2, 2018: Lawn Bowls' Pink Ribbon Day
Our Pink Happy day is always a great success and today was no exception. Although the weather started off a bit on the chilly side everyone seemed to enjoy the day.
The bowlers raised $1700+ and the Mulgrave Country Club added more to round off the day with raising $4000.00. Big thanks to all bowlers and the MCC.

Jack Ross drafted to the Richmond Tigers!
Jack Ross (Oakleigh Chargers Football Club) has been drafted to the Richmond Tigers at pick number 43 in the 2018 AFL National Draft. The 2018 Best and Fairest winner, Jack is a strong inside midfielder. Effective at clearances he uses the ball well by both hand and foot.
We thank the Mulgrave Country Club for their continued support of the Chargers program aiding us in developing young footballers like Jack across the inner east of Melbourne.

October 10: Alysa Langham
On a sad note we farewelled Alysa Langham who was employed at the club for 10 years starting in the gaming room and then progressed to roles such as Operations Manager and Functions Manager. Alysa fought a tough battle after being diagnosed with stomach and oesophagus cancer. Alysa left the club to pursue a career in the police force but sadly this career was cut short. Alysa passed away on Wednesday the 10th October at 7.40am.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes to her husband Russel and daughters, Carly and Abbey. Alysa was only 49 years old and taken too soon.

Congratulations to Danielle and Simon Keele on the birth of your son, Lachlan Simon. Born on the 8th August 2018 weighing 3.7kg or 8lb 4oz. A very long-awaited brother for Stephanie and Jacob. All doing well.
Barrie Lester heads for the Commonwealth Games
Right now is one of the most exciting times in my life. The Commonwealth Games is under a month away. I’m training everyday either on the green or in the gym to be in the best form possible. I will be leading in the men’s Triples and Fours. To be able to play in home games in front of family and friends will be an experience of a lifetime.
The Australian Jackaroos Lawn Bowls team consists of 17 athletes. I will fly to the Gold Coast March 27 where I willl live in the athletes village which holds over 6,000 from all over the Commonwealth.
My first day of competition is April 5 competing everyday until April 13 at the Broadbeach Bowls Club. This is the pinnacle event of my sport and feel very privileged to represent my country. Thank you to Mulgrave Country Club, staff, management and members for your continued support.

December 2017 Newsletter: Mother's second gift of Life
Nothing is more precious than the gift of life and as parents you wish a full and healthy life for your children. But for this Special mum she has gifted her daughter the gift of life again. 19 years ago Irene received a kidney from her Mum. Irene was diagnosed with Lupus in 1992. After enduring 3 years of Chemotherapy and 3.5 years of Haemodialysis, keen to try and start a family, she finally accepted her mother’s selfless act. Against medical odds, Irene and her husband were able to conceive two beautiful sons, Jordan 17 and Mathew aged 10. “Raising Organ Donation is a cause very close to my heart. I volunteer with DonateLife by public speaking to educate the community on Organ Donation. I live each day to its fullest" Irene said.
With the support and help from our local community and businesses: The Mulgrave Country Club, CCV Australia, Tension 24 and Dandenong RSL combined, they are making Irene’s dream come true by sponsoring her to enter and participate in the August 2018 US Transplant Games in Utah.
